  1. This is the README for TeXit 1.4
  2.  
  3. TeXit reduces the cycle time when editing and previewing a TeX file.
  4. It can TeX a file, pasteboard or selection (i.e.part of a file) with 
  5. user defined header and end.  TeXit works best in conjunction with 
  6. NeXT's Edit application and the TeXview previewer to provide the 
  7. user with a more complete TeX environment.
  8.   
  9. It advertises its services to other applications and works in conjuction
  10. with NeXT's Edit application to view errors. The command keys for each service
  11. can be changed by the user.  
  12.  
  13. TeXit should be installed in either the Apps subdirectory in your home 
  14. directory  or in /LocalApps.  Logging out and back in will let NeXTSTEP
  15. register TeXit's services.

  17. TeXit is free and comes with no warranty.  It was compliled under NeXTSTEP 2.1 .

  32. p.s.  I have included with this distribution three "essential" utilities
  33.  
  34. 1.  The keyboard mapping by Mike Carlton that remaps \|~` to shift return,
  35.     backspace, escape, and tab.  
  36.         
  37. 2.  wrap, a csh shell script that wraps lines at word boundaries only if
  38.     lines are greater than 80 characters long.  This utility is essentual when 
  39.     transfering text files created by Edit to other machines/editors.
  40.     
  41. 3.  editdict, my .editdict file for Edit that lets me type TeX's greek
  42.     characters quickly.  Save it as .editdict in your home directory.
  43.     Typing the character "a" and then "esc" will produce "\alpha", etc.
